YOU NEED A LICENSE TO WORK IN THE CLOSE PROTECTION INDUSTRY

If you are wishing to work in Close Protection within the UK (and some British Contracts within other Countries) you will require an SIA licence as it is against the law to work without one. The Security Industry Authority (SIA) sets the standards and regulates the British Security Industry making this Industry licensable and lawful. Taylor Made Securities Ltd are certified to British Standards 8507-1 and 8507-2 proving our commitment and excellence within the Close Protection Industry.

HOW DO I OBTAIN AN SIA CLOSE PROTECTION LICENSE?
​If you are wishing to pursue a career in the Close Protection Industry you will need to undertake an approved training course that is a minimum of 194 hours in duration. This ensures that you can apply for a Close Protection front Line license. We are approved by the awarding body Highfields and we are vigilant in verifying that we maintain and deliver the high standards that you would expect to work in this demanding and elite industry.

Our Close Protection training course goes above and beyond industry standards. The TMS Close Protection course meets the full SIA licensing criteria and incorporates additional subjects and matters relevant to working in this specialist industry.
Our tutors have extensive backgrounds in their subjects gained from years of operational experience and now pass on these skills to students entering the industry.
COURSE INFORMATION
HOW LONG IS THE COURSE?
​
Our course is intensive and in excess of the 194 guided learning hours required. It takes place over a continuous 23 day period. We generally hold a course 4 times year and it is a combination of classroom work and practical exercises. All course work is completed at our training facility with practical exercises conducted on the estate grounds and within the local surrounding area.

WHAT WILL YOU ACHIEVE?
​
When you pass the Taylor Made Securities Close Protection training course you will have achieved the standard to apply for a Close Protection Front Line license with the SIA. You will receive a certificate and level 3 RQF qualification in Close Protection and First Aid Response from our awarding body Highfields Qualifications. You will also achieve 24 accredited points which can go toward the foundation degree in security management. Additional to your Close Protection and First aid qualification, you will also achieve certification in Evasive Driving, Close Quarter Combat and if selected, Live Firearms.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS
​
In order for you to enroll on our course you must be at least 18 years of age. You must have a clean criminal record and be able to communicate effectively in both spoken and written English. Because of the nature of the course, your health and fitness must be of an adequate level. Upon entering your application form, you must also be able to provide proof of identity and address. A valid passport is required to participate in the Firearms module of the course conducted in Poland.

TRAINING AND ACCOMODATION FACILITIES
TRAINING FACILITIES
​Our Close Protection course is conducted at our private training facilities situated in Rutland. Set on private grounds, our training facilities are secluded from the public. With stunning views and imposing buildings, this tranquil setting is the perfect place to study and develop new skills to earn your qualification as a level 3 Close Protection Operative.

SELF CATERING ACCOMODATION
​
For students wishing to stay with us for the duration of their training course, we have excellent 4 star accommodation available close to our training facilities. All of our apartments come with a fully fitted kitchen, living room, bathroom and bedroom. Our accommodation facilities are self catering with onsite parking and Wi-Fi included.

LOCATION AND LOCAL AMMENITIES

Our training facilities are located 2 ½ hours from London, 2 ½ hours from Manchester and 1 ½ hours from Birmingham, There are a variety of local amenities located close to our facilities including supermarkets, gymnasiums, leisure centres, restaurants, doctors surgeries and pharmacists. Financing Your Course
​
Taylor Made Securities Ltd currently work alongside several finance providers offering students alternative ways to pay for their Close Protection training course.
Students that do not have the available funds upfront but would like to and attend one of our training courses can now finance their course over periods of up to 5 years. No deposit is required and you will normally receive a decision in principle within 24 hours. Finance is not guaranteed and subject to credit status and affordability.

Both our courses and accommodation can be financed if required.
​
