You Need a License To Work In The Close Protection Business
If you are wishing to work in Close Protection within the UK (and some British Contracts within other Countries) you will require a licence as it is against the law to work without one. The Security Industry Authority (SIA) sets the standards and regulates the British Security Industry making this Industry licensable and lawful. Taylor Made Securities Ltd are certified to British Standards 8507-1 proving our commitment and excellence within the Close Protection Industry.
How Do I Obtain An SIA Close Protection License?
If you are wishing to pursue a career in the Close Protection Industry you will need to undertake an approved training course that is a minimum of 140 hours in duration. This ensures that you can apply for a Close Protection front Line license. We are approved by the awarding body EQ Awards and we are vigilant in verifying that we maintain and deliver the high standards that you would expect to work in this demanding and elite industry.

How Long Is The Course?
Our course is intensive and in excess of the 140 guided learning hours required. It takes place over a continuous 14 day period. We generally hold a course four times a year and it is a combination of classroom work and practical exercises. All course work is completed at our training facility with practical exercises conducted on the estate grounds and within the local surrounding area.
What Will You Achieve?
When you pass the Taylor Made Securities Close Protection training course you will have achieved the standard to apply for a Close Protection Front Line license with the SIA. You will receive a certificate and level 3 RQF qualification in Close Protection from our awarding body EQ Awards. You will also achieve 14 accredited points at level 4 which can go toward the foundation degree in security management.
In order for you to enrol on our course you must be at least 18 years of age. You must have a clean criminal record and be able to communicate effectively in both spoken and written English. Because of the nature of the course, you health and fitness must be of an adequate level. Upon entering your application form, you must also be able to provide proof of identity and address.
Our Training Facilities
Where Does The Course Take Place?
The course takes place at our private training head quarters situated within Manton, Rutland. Our training centre is a 2½ hour drive from London, a 1½ hour drive from Birmingham, a 2½ hour drive from Manchester and a 45 minute drive from Leicester.
Set on private grounds, our training centre is secluded from the public. With stunning views and imposing buildings, this tranquil setting is the perfect place to study and develop new skills to earn your qualification as a Level 3 Close Protection Operative.

Dates for our upcoming Close Protection courses can be found below. The cost of our Close Protection course fee includes VAT, accommodation, examination fees, full instruction and training materials.
Our course is self catering and does NOT include food or drink.
Booking onto the course is very straight forward. You can book directly with us over the telephone and also take the opportunity to ask us any questions you may have. We can also confirm course dates and placements that are available. Alternatively please complete our online Register Of Interest Form.
In order to secure your place on our course, a non refundable deposit of 10% will be required. The remaining balance will then have to be paid a minimum of 21 days before the course start date. Once we have received your application and deposit, we will send you the course joining instructions.
Course Payment Plan
Taylor Made Securities Ltd offer a payment plan for students that do not have the available funds but would like to further their education and attend one of our training courses. There is a deposit required of 10% with our payment plan and the remaining balance of the course is divided over 12 monthly interest free payments.
Approval for this payment plan is subject to eligibility and credit status.
For applicants that do not require accommodation, First Aid training or both, please do select this option when booking and the correct amounts will be deducted from the course cost.
